BEIJING — BMW continues its string of exclusive, limited-production models for the China market with the launch of the M3 Carbon Edition coupe.
The latest China-only Bimmer joins the M3 Matte Edition and the earlier M3 Tiger Edition in what is rapidly becoming one of BMW's most important markets outside Germany.
Deliveries of the M3 Carbon Edition begin in July and will be limited to 111 units, with a staggering $189,595 price tag attached to each.
As the name implies, the M3 Carbon Edition features a liberal application of carbon fiber inside and out, including a carbon-fiber roof, front splitter, deck spoiler and intake surrounds. Each car is painted Mineral White with black striping and Carbon Edition logos, and 19-inch gloss black Style 220 M3 rims are fitted.
The cockpit sports carbon-fiber accents, including an individually numbered Carbon Edition plaque on the dash, as well as white leather trim and white stitching.
BMW has elected to use the standard M3 powertrain — the 414-horsepower 4.0-liter V8 and seven-speed DCT gearbox.
Inside Line says: A bit more subtle than the M3 Tiger Edition, but then all things are relative. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
