The elderly man was walking with his cane when he was ran over by the SMRT bus. The bus was driven by a 34 year old female from Malaysia, and was going at about 34km/h before the accident. MK7 Volkswagen Golf (AJK8033) in Cloned Car Case Abandoned in Kota Damansara?

Abandoned cars up for grabs? Apparently this one is a spanking good looking red Volkswagen Golf MK7, not some old beat up junk. One would wonder why would such a nice car be abandoned if it were not a stolen car used for high speed getaways. What is even more worrying is that these cars may have been resold or re-purposed, somehow acquiring roadtaxes or legitimate number plates.

One of our dear readers, Mat Cendana reported that there was a red MK7 Volkswagen Golf that looks strikingly similar to the one involved in the AJK8033 Volkswagen Golf cloned and duplicated number plate case.

Great that you have written a post about this. It also offers me the opportunity to add the following. There was a red VW, almost similar to the one on the left, that was left abandoned off Jalan Camar, Kota Damansara leading to the Villa Damansara/Sierra Damanasara housing area: http://s1294.photobucket.com/user/MatCendana/media/Social%20Media/VW1_zps5f4e003b.jpg.html It was left there from early this month, if I'm not mistaken, and only taken away some days ago. I had suspected that it might have been involved in a crime and was abandoned there, with the number plates taken off. I'm surprised the residents' associations here and the authorities didn't do anything immediately, until last week. Is this the same one as in your picture? If it isn't, then I'd bet there are a number of other similar VWs, and that there is an organised syndicate using this tactic of multiple number plates. The media and authorities need to investigate how serious this problem is, and who are involved. - Mat Cendana.

Volkswagen Golf (AJK8033) Cloned & Duplicated Car Plates Caught - Hanky Panky in JPJ?

2 Volkswagen Golfs, both bearing the number plate AJK8033 was shown together in a picture that has gone viral on social media. The first Volkswagen Golf with the AJK 8033 number plate is the newer MK7, while the dark red Volkswagen Golf appears to be an MK5, How could 2 cars, both Volkswagen Golf bear the same number plate AJK8033? My take on this is that one of the car is a Singapore deregistered car, that has been shipped to Malaysia as "for spare part use". Some hanky panky or loophole in the JPJ enabled the car to be registered as a "cloned car".

Volkswagen Golf (AJK8033) Cloned / Duplicated Car Plates Caught - Hanky Panky in JPJ?

Volkswagen recalls 6,000 cars in Singapore over DSG gearbox problem

While Volkswagen is renowned for their DSG double clutch gearbox technology, nothing is perfect. Volkswagen in Singapore has just recalled more than 6,000 DSG equipped cars in Singapore. The problem? Potential power loss.

Volkswagen Singapore stated that "as a responsible OEM, will recall 6,181 vehicles with 7-speed double-clutch gearbox (DQ200).
In isolated cases, an electronic malfunction in the control unit or a lack of oil pressure inside the gearbox mechatronics may result in a power interruption. The most important vehicle systems, such as steering and braking, along with other relevant systems will not be affected regarding their functionality. If, in rare cases, the car loses power while driving, the driver can remain in control to safely manoeuvre the car to a stop.
All vehicles produced and sold now, and vehicles in the dealer stock are not affected by this problem.
Volkswagen Singapore will replace a new gearbox mechatronic on affected vehicles at zero cost to the customer. As a good-will measure to our valued customers, we will provide the latest upgraded software version – also at zero cost to the customer" -Volkswagen Singapore.

2013 Toyota Vios Malaysia Official Photos

2013 Toyota Vios Malaysia Official Photos

Paultan.org has just posted the official photos of the 2013 Toyota Vios! From the looks of it, the car does seem to be designed and catered for a younger crowd. The front end is restyled and looks aggressive, which is kind of similar to a Proton Preve. They are also in the same price segment. For new car buyers, would you buy the Proton Preve with its Punch powertrain CVT gearbox and Campro CFE turbocharged engine or the 2013 Toyota Vios with perhaps a less than stellar performance 1.5-Litre engine? Tough choice.

The 2013 Toyota Vios has a redesigned centre console, which now looks more integrated. The meter clusters has also been changed. Instead of being placed in the middle like in the 2009 Toyota Vios, the 2013 Toyota Vios has a traditional position with a sporty looking meter reading.

With a rim change, the 2013 Toyota Vios would look great. I can just envision car enthusiasts tweaking it with a bolt on turbo kit, perhaps with cosmetic changes like a hood scoop, and flared fender arches. Slick!

Lyonheart K (Jaguar E-Type inspired)

Limited to a 250 cars production run, the Lyonheart K Coupe and Convertible are now open for order with a list price of US$481,000 for the coupe, and US$501,000 for the convertible. That is a whopping 1,500,000 ringgit! RM1.5 million! And this excludes taxes or excise duties, but includes free delivery within Europe.

Renault ZOE - The Electric Supermini For Everyday Use

While the hybrid car era has just begun, manufacturers are churning out electric vehicles for consumers already; the Renault ZOE being the latest addition, aims to be the electric supermini for everyday use. Think Henry Ford, think Ford Model T, but from Renault and an electric car. The Renault ZOE will go on sale in the UK in June 2013, and probably reach Malaysia 10 years later, if ever.

Ford Focus ST, Europe’s top selling hot hatch

Ford Focus ST, Europe’s top selling hot hatch

The first time I saw the Ford Focus ST in flesh was during a Ford roadshow held in Mid Valley mega mall sometime last year. It looks great, donned in an orange finish with a really sporty-rally look. Further popularized by Ken Block, the Ford Focus ST fits the image of a road-use, practical sports car.

It is no wonder that Ford Focus ST sold 1,984 units alone from October to December 2012, outselling competitors like VW Golf GTI and the Renault Megane Sport.

Toyota Vios 2013 spy shot!

Paultan.org just posted this Toyota Vios 2013 spy shot. Personally it looks much better compared to the previous generation Toyota Vios, especially the front fascia; it now sports a much more aggressive bumper and sleeker grille combination. Wonder if it is still using the same 1NZ-FE 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine with VVT-i with the traditional 4-speed auto box?

Front fascia and stance similar to a Kia Forte and Mitsubishi Lancer GT (headlight portion) combo.

Add caption

The rear reminds me more of a Toyota Altis or Toyota Camry now. Looks classier don't you think?

Jaguar will be unveiling its Jaguar's XFR-S, the fastest ever sports saloon produced by Jaguar so far. 0-100km/h (0-62mph) is done in 4.6 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 300km/h (186mph). This is possible through Jaguar XFR-S' 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, producing a whopping 550Ps and 680Nm of torque. The Jaguar XFR-S will be available in the UK at £79,995, which is about RM377,200 (with taxes probably close to RM1 million mark? We will see).

Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar Global Brand Director said: “I’m delighted that Jaguar is able to present the XFR-S in action for the first time in the UK, and that a Jaguar motorsport hero will be behind the wheel. The crowd at Goodwood will have a unique opportunity to see and hear the ultimate expression of seductive Jaguar design and sporting performance in the XFR-S - well in advance of first deliveries to customers this summer.”

The Mercedes SLS AMG E-CELL: Go Green!

Providing some competition to the Tesla, this all electric SLS AMG E-CELL will feature 4 electric motors that provide a combined output of a whopping 525bhp (392kW / 532PS); yes that is a similar figure from the Audi R8 V10! 880Nm of torque will also ensure that you stick to your seats during acceleration. 0-100km/h (0-62mph) is done in 4 seconds. In comparison, the petrol version of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has 563bhp (420 kW / 571 PS) and maximum torque of 650 Nm (479 lb/ft), and does 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.8 seconds.
