1990s Proton Saga convertible and Proton Saga Iswara station wagon

A custom made 1990s Proton Saga convertible. Not sure if this can be categorised as a convertible as there does not seem to be any mechanism to bring up a roof. Anyone have the whole story behind this Proton Saga with its roof removed?

How about a Proton Saga Iswara station wagon? This one looks like it was nicely done!

And another Proton Iswara convertible, but this time for autoshow purpose.

New 2013 Nissan 370Z pricing and overview

The 2013 Nissan 370Z has been revealed for Europe; starting from £26,995 (around RM124,200) onwards, while the Nissan 370Z Nismo edition will cost from £36,995 (RM170,300).  If only we can get such great pricing in Malaysia, it will be a dream come true won't it?

Back to the 2013 Nissan 370Z. It will ship with a 3.7-Litre V6 engine, producing 328PS and 363Nm of torque for the base line spec. The flagship 2013 Nissan 370Z Nismo edition will produce 344PS, 16PS more than the standard baseline Nissan 370Z. The 370Z Nismo edition will also include a more aggressive body kit, uprated suspension, stronger brakes, and also a sportier exhaust note.

The 2010-2012 Nissan 370Z does 0-100km/h in 5.3 to 5.6 seconds, so we can expect similar performance from the 2013 Nissan 370Z. The top speed for the 2010-2013 Nissan 370Z is 249km/h or 155mph.

The 2013 Nissan 370Z will also feature daytime running lights, which seem to be getting more and more common as every manufacturer slaps their new models with one.

The full price list. Note: to convert to Malaysian Ringgit, £1 = RM4.60.

New 2013 Isuzu D-Max, exactly like the Chevrolet Colorado but cheaper?

The all-new ISUZU D-MAX is developed alongside its brother the Chevrolet Colorado. As such, they share a related chassis and interior design, which is a great thing! The interior and ride comfort will make you feel like you are in a sedan car, instead of a pick-up truck. Ideal for carrying Ikea furniture or boosting your ego, the ISUZU D-MAX is great value for money!

The all-new ISUZU D-MAX shares its body construction, chassis platform, mechanical component and interior design such as the dashboard, centre stack, steering wheel and doors with Chevrolet Colorado. Chevrolet Colorado owners should rejoice as spare parts will, without a doubt, be much cheaper due to the cross-model sharing and usage of parts. The main differentiation factor will be the ISUZU D-MAX's aggressive angular front fascia with upswept headlights and a more conventional grille design, compared to the Colorado's upmarket appeal.

ISUZU's iTEQ 2.5-Litre engine now produces 87kW with 280Nm of torque and 101kW with 320Nm of torque thanks to the usage of the VGS turbo.

ISUZU Malaysia's pricelist for the Isuzu-D-Max

Proton Saga FL/FLX/BLM to BMW M3 E92

You have seen it all, Proton Saga BLM to Subaru Impreza WRX STI, Replica Proton R3 conversions, Proton Saga FLX Thai Expo style body kits, various insane body kit conversion and wide body kits. How about something refreshing, a Proton Saga BLM converted to a BMW M3, with a Toyota Altezza style rear? Kudos to the owner!

The real BMW M3

Very close and nicely done!

Close enough!

BMW M3 Pickup Concept

I came across this and thought I had to share this: a 4.0-Litre V8 engine producing 414bhp BMW M3 pickup! Thought it is only a concept, this is perhaps one of the few BMW pickups you will see.

Looks normal... until you see the rear of this BMW M3!

The BMW M3's rear has been modified to accommodate a flat bed.
It looks like original though!

Very clean and rugged

Proton Preve steering on other Proton cars

Proton Preve steering on other Proton cars, specifically my Proton Saga FLX! Since I bought the cheapest spec version, it came without the leather steering wheel, which gets slippery at times and feels rather uncomfortable. To get the original steering wrapped outside, I was quoted anywhere from RM350 to RM400! So instead, I got the Proton Preve leather steering wheel, at a fraction of the price.

Sorry to disappoint you but the cruise control and paddleshifters don't work! The stereo will work if wired to the media player though!

The steering only took a while to install, and it is plug and play on many other Proton cars such as the Proton Wira, Waja, Persona, and Gen-2.

Proton Wira modified into BMW

Proton Wira to BMW 3 Series conversion. Very intense!

If you look closely, this is actually a Proton Wira and not a BMW 3 series E46! The owner somehow managed to integrate the BMW bonnet, signature BMW kidney grille, E46 bumpers, and also the 3 series head lights. However, upon closer inspection, the headlights appear to be Proton Wira headlights with shrouds and eyelids to give the illusion of a 3 series headlamp.  The wide body fender arches resemble those found on DTM touring cars. I wouldn't recognize this is a Proton Wira except through the A,B, and C pillars.

To each his own, this owner definitely has put a lot of effort in this modification. You also have to admit this is a great change from the usual Mitsubishi EVO conversions that we have seen so often on Proton Wiras !

I would love to see how the rear looks like! Could it be as intensive as the front fascia?

Proton Saga FLX Campro 1.3 to 1.6 conversion

Proton Campro 1.3 convert to 1.6

Do you own a 1.3-Litre Campro Proton Saga FLX, Saga BLM, Saga FL, or Satria Neo? You can actually convert the 1300CC Campro engine to 1600CC Campro and get an extra 300cc! What does this extra 300cc of Campro power bring you? Well for starters, with the Campro 1.3 convert to 1.6, you will get about 14 extra horsepower and 30Nm of torque. No replacement for displacement! Essentially other parts are the same, the injectors and throttle body are also the same.

So what would you need to stroke the 1.3 Campro to 1.6? The stroker kit would consist of: Campro 1.6 crankshaft, Campro 1.6 conrods and pistons. All these can be bought easily on Mudah.my and sells for below RM2,000. Along with the main Campro 1.6-Litre stroker parts, you would need new engine bearings and piston rings, which would cost a few hundred. The whole 1.3-Litre to 1.6-Litre Campro conversion costs RM2,500-3,000 inclusive of labour. Was it worth it? Totally!

Note: The 1.6-Litre Campro pistons and 1.3-Litre pistons have a different head design, with the 1600cc giving a lower compression while the 1.3-Litre has a higher compression. The conrod lengths are also different.

New 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo, even better!

Faster, strong, and better! This basically sums up the new 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo. The New Type 991 generation of Porsche’s 911 Turbo and Turbo S gets an all new all-wheel drive with active rear axle steering, adaptive aerodynamics, and full LED headlights.

Perhaps the main highlight will be the new Porsche 911 Turbo S, which produces 560hp (412kW) from the 3.8-Litre flat 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine, while the 911 Turbo without the S gets 520hp. Controlling the power is the famed 7-speed dual clutch transmission (PDK), and the Porsche 911 also comes with auto stop-start function. The chassis has also been revamped, and is now 100mm longer.

In terms of raw performance figures, 0-100km/h (0-62mph) is done in just 3.2 seconds for the Porsche 911 Turbo, and 3.1 seconds for the Porsche 911 Turbo S. Top speed is a stellar 317km/h.

For the first time, the new Porsche 911 Turbo models will receive The PorscheDynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active anti-roll system, which increases the dynamic performance potential of the Porsche 911’s handling characteristics. This system is standard equipment on the 911 Turbo S, together with the Sport Chrono Package Plus incorporating dynamic engine mounts, and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). These are also each available on the 911 Turbo.

Porsche 911 Turbo meter cluster

As a consequence, the 911 Turbo S shortens the benchmark lap time around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife to well under 7 min 30 sec – naturally on standard production tyres. The standard ‘sound symposer’ intensifies the driving experience further still; transmitting induction sounds of the turbo engine to the passenger compartment via a speaker diaphragm.

Volkswagen recalls 6,000 cars in Singapore over DSG gearbox problem

While Volkswagen is renowned for their DSG double clutch gearbox technology, nothing is perfect. Volkswagen in Singapore has just recalled more than 6,000 DSG equipped cars in Singapore. The problem? Potential power loss.

Volkswagen Singapore stated that "as a responsible OEM, will recall 6,181 vehicles with 7-speed double-clutch gearbox (DQ200).
In isolated cases, an electronic malfunction in the control unit or a lack of oil pressure inside the gearbox mechatronics may result in a power interruption. The most important vehicle systems, such as steering and braking, along with other relevant systems will not be affected regarding their functionality. If, in rare cases, the car loses power while driving, the driver can remain in control to safely manoeuvre the car to a stop.
All vehicles produced and sold now, and vehicles in the dealer stock are not affected by this problem.
Volkswagen Singapore will replace a new gearbox mechatronic on affected vehicles at zero cost to the customer. As a good-will measure to our valued customers, we will provide the latest upgraded software version – also at zero cost to the customer" -Volkswagen Singapore.

Check out this Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class' Body kit!

Check out this second generation Series 218, Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Body kit! It looks absolutely fantastic and made this sexy car, even sexier!

The 2010 onwards saw the 2nd generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. Apart from visual improvements, the introduction of the BlueEfficiency engine meant that the car sips even less fuel, and for the base Mercedes-Benz CLS350 that does 0-100 in 6.1 seconds, produces 306PS (225kW or 302hp) with 370Nm of torque from a 3.5L V6 engine, the Mercedes-Benz CLS350 only 14.7km/L or 100km/6.8 litres! That is pretty impressive.
