Diesel BMW 5 Series more Fuel Efficient thanToyota Prius

In a 900km London to Geneva test, the BMW 520D sporting a 2.0 Litre diesel engine outperforms the petrol hybrid Toyota Prius. The BMW520D featuring regenerative braking, achieved 17.8 KM/L (41.9MPG), while the Toyota Prius achieved 17.0 KM/L (40.1MPG).

However, the article stated that during urban conditions, the Prius might be more efficient due to the hybrid drive train. The verdict? Do you want to save fuel in a Prius or a BMW 520D? Costs of the vehicle aside, the answer is obvious.
