Volvo 740 Convert to Rolls Royce Phantom? Well, close enough! I'm not sure if it is a Volvo 740, 850 or 940 (Volvo enthusiasts, you tell me!), but it looks closer to a Volvo 740. From several feet away, this Volvo looks like a Rolls Royce Phantom! However the rear gives it away totally, as it doesn't get any extravagant body kit makeover like the front.
Sporting a set of 18 or 19 inch rims, this Volvo cum Rolls Royce Phantom has a nice stance, with the rims neatly tucked inside the wide fender flares. The owner has done a pretty clean job, and the whole car is finished in a shade similar to Lamborghini orange.

Wonder what is under the hood? a 1JZ or 2JZ Supra engine, or the Volvo B230FT turbocharged engine? It does have a pretty big exhaust muffler! What do you think about this modified Volvo 740? Leave your comments below!
A Volvo 740 which the heavily body kitted Rolls Royce "replica" car is based on.
The real deal; the front of this Volvo 740 looks really similar to the Rolls Royce Phantom, missing only the Rolls Royce emblem and some dimensional shortcomings whilst maintaining the classic Volvo square elements.
About the Volvo 740 (What I think about it):
Produced from 1984-1992, the Volvo 740 did not enjoy the cult status attained by the Volvo 200 series (think Volvo 240) in Malaysia. The performance of the Volvo 740 is abysmal (except for the turbo versions and modified ones); 0-100km/h will leave you enough time to comment on this blogpost. If you get a poorly maintained unit, be prepared to visit petrol stations more often than you'd like. On the bright side, a decent condition used unit could be had for RM3,000 to RM9,000 (as of 2014). Most Volvo 740 in Malaysia sports the natural aspirated B200 or B230 engines, with a few rare ones equipped with the bullet proof B230 turbocharged version. Many turbocharged 740 versions are transplanted from the later Volvo 940 turbos. Perhaps one of the last generation of "true" square design from Volvo, the 740 looks very much like a 1980s Lincoln Town Car.
